Aberargie Distillery, Perthshire

Due to continued growth and interest in Scottish whisky, a well-established whisky producing family contracted Algo to build a brand-new distillery.

The distillery is based within the family’s 300-acre farm on the outskirts of Perth. Using barley grown entirely from their own farm, the distillery has capacity to produce up to 750,000 litres of pure alcohol.

The development entailed the construction of 3 buildings – Office & Bottling Facility, Distillery, and Cask & Raw Material Storage Facility.

Extensive groundworks were carried out on the site to create the 3 building developments – this included stripping the existing greenfield site, preparing the ground for building and the laying of the final road and parking surfacing. Large-scale Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) were also constructed as part of Algo Design & Build’s contract.

The use of large areas of glazed screens to the Office Area and Curtain Walling to the Distillery Area creates an impressive and intriguing first impression upon arrival to the facility.

The distillery was completed on time and the distillery’s first cask was filled on 1st November 2017.
