Fasco – Headquarters Office and Distribution. Grangemouth

Fasco is one of the country’s leading distributors of industrial fasteners, engineering consumables, personal protection-wear and health and safety equipment. As their business had evolved through different acquisitions and expansion projects they found themselves with 5 depots throughout Scotland. In 2008 they appointed Algo to manage their upgrade into one purpose-built location which would be their head office and central distribution point.

The brownfield site that was being regenerated for this project was an old petrochemical plant and Algo were required to work in confines that this presented. The ground was challenging; there was a huge amount of silty clay that needed to be piled to take the traditional steel portal framed building with which Algo is renowned. Some 400 piles were drilled and filled with vibro stone columns in preparation for work commencing.

The 1620m2 warehouse and 480m2 office space were finished with a glazed front using specialised units to prevent solar gain and overheating in offices. The cladding was varied with flat panels and horizontal fixing to enhance the building and to give it a modern look and feel that wouldn’t date.

“Algo designed and built our new headquarters to the letter of the brief. We’d recommend them and we’d use them again.”
