Loch Levens Larder
Loch Leven’s Larder – Farm Shop and Cafe. Loch Leven
Emma Niven, frustrated at the lack of quality veg in supermarkets and local shops decided that she would purpose build a farm shop and cafe as an outlet for Channel Farm and Pittendreich’s vegetables. Her vision was to have this situated on the edge of Loch Leven so that everyone might enjoy their stunning views. Algo was appointed and phase one opened in September 2005.
Such has been the success of Loch Leven’s Larder that a second phase was added after one year which extended their offer and gave them an additional 450m2 of retail space.
The relationship that has been forged between the Niven Family and Algo has allowed this development process to run as smoothly and as seamlessly as possible. Phase three is now in the design stage.
Due the nature of the business Loch Leven’s Larder had to be aesthetically pleasing and welcoming. It had to represent nature and embrace the ethos and values of a farm shop selling local produce. The traditional Algo steel framed building was used but in order to blend into the natural surroundings, we combined the use of timber and light green cladding with an external wooden decked area.
