Algo were first appointed by Aberargie Distillery in 2016 to construct a new distillery. The development entailed the construction of a still house, maturation warehouse, grain store, offices, packing store and bottling hall. Extensive groundworks were carried out on the site to create the development – this included stripping the existing greenfield site, preparing the ground for building and the laying of the final road and parking surfacing. A large-scale Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) was also constructed as part of the Design & Build contract.
We were delighted to be appointed again in 2020 and return to construct an additional storage building for their growing business demands. A 6000m2 warehouse (165m long x 36m wide x 8.50m to the eaves) was constructed, comprising a steel framed portal building subdivided internally with specialist 2hr fire rated insulated cladding panels to create six 990m2 whisky storage cells. The building is clad using composite insulated roof & wall panels, and includes sectional doors and steel security personnel door sets together with all drainage, external roadways, walkways and hard and soft landscaping, which was all completed by Algo.
