Grain Store and Drier Facility, Perthshire

Algo was appointed by a long standing repeat client to deliver the full design and construction of a new grain intake, drying and storage facility with a maximum capacity of approximately 5,000 tonnes.

Delivered as a complete design and build package, Algo managed planning, building warrant, engineering and construction. The 62m x 25m clearspan steel portal framed building incorporated reinforced precast concrete grain walls, a dedicated drier canopy, large roller shutter access and an underfloor grain ventilation system, all coordinated and managed by Algo.

Significant enabling works were required, including substantial excavation and earthworks to establish a clear and level development platform, followed by foundations and a reinforced concrete floor designed for the operational demands of the facility.

Close coordination was maintained with the specialist grain drying and handling system installers to align building works, equipment interfaces, access and installation periods within the overall programme.

Construction commenced in March 2026 and, despite the demanding programme, the complete facility was successfully handed over in July – a 4 month construction period which ensured the client was fully operational ahead of the critical 2026 harvest.
