Project Completion – Industrial Units for Kanthal, Perth

Kanthal, a global leader in industrial heating technology and resistance materials, required an increase in production capacity at its Perth facility. The contract to deliver 2 No. industrial units, was awarded to Algo following a competitive tender process. The buildings comprised of one 1,000m2 unit including office area and one 660m2 unit incorporating a sales office.

The new buildings were constructed alongside associated drainage, external surfacing and soft landscaping and were linked to existing production facility via enclosed corridor connections.
Whilst constructing the units, and due to a strong working relationship, Algo undertook additional major internal modifications to facilitate the installation of new production equipment vital to Kanthal’s growth. The works involved removal of large brickwork walls, installation of structural steels to form new load bearing openings and reconfiguration of internal factory spaces to support new layout.

All required meticulous co-ordination as they were carried out adjacent to operating machinery and active working areas. Algo maintained a high level of communication with the team at Kanthal which included daily activity briefings, shared planning of work programmes to ensure safety and efficiency and strict isolation procedures when required.

The newly constructed buildings and upgrades have enabled Kanthal to expand its production capacity and optimise operational flow. Algo’s ability to adapt to complex live environments and work collaboratively with the client team played a pivotal role in the projects success.
