Following a competitive tender process, Algo were delighted to be appointed as Crail Golfing Society’s preferred contractor to deliver its new covered driving range facility.
Designed to complement the already impressive surroundings, the completed development provides six open practice bays and one fully enclosed bay incorporating a dedicated swing studio. An entrance foyer, plant room housing the automated ball-dispensing equipment, and modern accessible toilet facilities complete the new building.
The facility was constructed around a steel portal frame and finished in anthracite composite cladding, locally sourced Denfind sandstone and Scottish larch. The semi-coursed sandstone, sourced from Denfind Quarry in Monikie, Angus, enhances the architectural finish while helping the building blend naturally into the surrounding landscape.
Scottish larch was used within the bays to introduce warmth and texture to the space. As a locally sourced, durable material that naturally withstands harsh weather without requiring additional treatment, it was an effective and sustainable choice for the exposed coastal setting.
Internally, durable rubber sports flooring was installed throughout the practice areas, alongside a shuttered concrete ball pit and automated ball-dispenser system. A glazed aluminium entrance completes the building’s clean, contemporary appearance.
The new covered driving range is a fantastic addition to Crail Golfing Society, providing an enhanced, year-round practice facility for members and visitors alike.
